Ok, peeps open up your eyes and get ready for the telling of a really really truly superb real awesome God and what He has done for me(:
Here it goes:
At the start of year 2009, good ol' Joy's father decided to send her abroad to study because he felt it would do her good, especially because she was a not-so-little girl with no goals in mind. So, he started to apply her to various types of schools all across the uk. seriously. Some came back with disappointing results, saying all their places have been filled since two years back (like what? SUPER far-sighted man those brits) whereas others came back saying they would offer me seats. However, the school term only starts in september 2009 which turned not so ideal too. And then, there are still others whose response seemed bleak with an overfilling cohord with a great fabulous waiting list. This caused a very disheartened Joy and Daddy to worry greatly. However, I forgot to mention, Joy got accepted into this school which was not very good with a homestay programme which Mumsy opposed to very much.
With this, Daddy started to apply to even more schools. One fine day, when he went out with Mummy to meet one of the representative ladies, he found out about this school called St Andrews University in Scotland, UK which offers a fine medical programme. He knew I was interested in pursueing medicine and so he enquired more about this programme. He found out that it is like college, however, it is specially moulded for those interested in becoming doctors of tomorrow. This particular programme is called the International Foundation For Medicine. He told me about this when he fetched me from tuition one day and told me that the representative lady was a nice lady who got on well with them.
We applied and so I got all my stuff ready, which included a personal statement, portfolio, and some predicted grades. After several weeks, my application got through, thank God! Apparently, the peeps said that Mrs Magee, the director of the English Department was rather pleased with me and told me that she was due to come down the next week for her norm-interviews with potential students.
I was really excited. In fact, my entire family was. We prepared for my interview together during dinners and family time. My uncle all the way in Malaysia was also involved I tell you haha. We talked over the phone almost daily and he gave me advice and all. Finally, the day of the interview arrived. The setting was almost similar as Jac's and we found out that Mrs Magee had spent the afternoon interviewing over 20 students wanting to enter the different courses at different levels. It was kind of cool, the tension and everything(: I think I must be mad lol. Anyways, my mother was like walking about the center like some country pumpkin, it's like she hasn't seen shelves after shelves of books before for she was picking and shrieking at every little book she sees lol. I was already a nervous wreck and she was doing that to me can you believe it? But surprisingly, the peace of God like suddenly engulfed me and I went in to talk to Mrs Magee. She looked really stressed and unkempt and at that time, was drinking some kopi-o from some nearby coffee shop. I was shocked. But still, I talked to her for 45 min. It went well. Just like the personal statement. See how God is so good? lol thanks! Following after, I went for dinner, relieved and at peace at this kopitiam haha.
Oh and on one of the days when we were having dinner and discussing about the interview, we suddenly heard a loud crash in my living room, we rushed over to see what had happened. We were shocked to see shatters of our glass sculpture of an eagle scattered all over the floor, obviously broken. This glass eagle was from Murano, Italy and it was my father's baby. Uncle Rusty, a prophet who would stay in our house most of the time while he is in Singapore prophesized on it before. He said that the eagle (that broke) symbolised my parents' care and protection over the two eaglets (bro n i) and that that incident symbolised that it was time for my parents to let go. Oh my gosh that was so shakening man haha. Plus one of the nights, my dad actually suddenly woke up in the middle of the night, as he felt that the Holy Spirit nudge him, telling him that I had gotten into St Andrews.
Following that incident, we prayed a lot and finally, my mum set a date with that lady representative at cova last friday which was that adam khoo booster session day. She disclosed that I was accepted into St Andrews! Oh my gosh I was so happy that I forgot how to laugh lol. She then told me more details that the package would actually arrive on Monday, which was today. So at 5, my mum went to the centre to collect the package. She spoke to another male representative and he told her that my offer was unconditional. It was also the first time in history of the centre that a candidate did not have to sit for an entrance examination in order to enter the medical school. Oh my gosh I was and still am happy. I believe that it is only through God's grace that this can happen.
What I just penned down is so different from what it feels like in real life. But I just want to thank first and foremost, my awesome God, and then Daddy, Mummy, Caleb, Jac, and all my friends, including Xian, Yen, Grace, Centaine, Wen Yih, Jaani, Ms Ho, Ms Siti, Unc Pek, Dr Tham and others whom I did not mention.
Ok this is an informal post on the thanking part, shall continue a nice long and maybe cheesy one for you guys another fine day. The point of this post is mainly just to thank God for His great mercy and goodness for I know none of this would actually happen if not for Him.
This might sound like an ultra Holy post but this is all true and real... to me.
Hope you guys enjoyed the long post.
In conclusion, just want to say...
All glory be to God!
